On 17th April 2020, the Government announced they plan to extend the closing date of the Job Retention Scheme until the end of June 2020 and now it has been extended further until the end of October 2020.
If you have not yet put employees on furlough leave, this is an opportunity for businesses, charities, recruitment agencies and public sector organisations to offer employees to take leave from the organisation in exchange for a reduced salary of up to 80%. The organisation can claim a grant from HMRC for the value of up to 80% (gross) of individuals salaries capped at £2500 per month.
However, employers will be expected to top up salaries and encourage employees to return to work from August, on a phased return, a combination of part time working and leave.
