Many of us will be asking our employees to return to work today from Furlough Leave. I am sure you have met with much skepticism as to how you plan to keep you colleagues and customers happy and safe at the same time.
The Health & Safety Executive (HSE) and the Government have been formulating plans for months as to how employees can return to work and it can be as safe as possible for them.
Not all employers can begin trading again and be open to the public yet, but many are and are taking the steps required.
As employers I am sure you are equally as anxious about whether you are doing enough to protect every body.
The most common questions employers will be asking:
- What happens if I can’t spread my desks out?
- What if I can’t afford new pc’s so my employees aren’t sharing, what happens then?
- Some of my employees rely on public transport to get to work, do I keep them on furlough?
- Some of my employees are refusing to return to work as they don’t think it is safe to do so, what can I do about it?
- What do I do if an employee wants to work part time doing homeworking when they are full time and office based?
The Government and the HSE has set up some guidance on how to make sure the workplace is as safe as possible for everybody. Visit the HSE information: Working safely during coronavirus (COVID-19) and check out the guidance specifically for your type of business: Guidance on how to work safely (and then search for your type of business).
