Did you know as an employer, one of the first policies you need to put in place is a Health and Safety policy (in the UK)? Do you know why?

It’s the law. All employers need to have a Health and Safety policy. If you don’t have one, you could be investigated and fined by the HSE. A policy will explain to both the employer and the employee what their responsibilities are under the Health and Safety at Work Act.

You also need a Health and Safety policy to cover any workers that work from home. Your responsibilities towards their health and safety do not stop because they are not on your premises?

Did you know you have to assess their ‘display screen equipment and their workstation’, too, and also have a policy as to how you will treat homeworkers?

Where can you get a policy from?
