Do we really understand ANXIETY. Sure, we all get it at some point in our lives – before a job interview, after you accidentally sent an email, after a difficult conversation with someone. And then it goes away, you’re distracted by something. But imagine it doesn’t go away. Imagine if that feeling of dread and sickness is amplified and stays for days and it tells you it’s not going to go away this time.

In the workplace, many people I’ve dealt with claim to suffer from anxiety and for the most part they are anxious about a work situation, and they aren’t actuality suffering from ‘killer anxiety’. With some individuals it is hard to tell if they won’t engage in conversations due to the anxiety. However it must not be overlooked. We spend a huge amount of our time in work and an employer does not want to be the cause of the anxiety the individual is suffering; which includes fair treatment towards the employee by the employer, being the cause of the anxiety.

If you’re in a role where you manage people, who claim to be suffering from anxiety, we have techniques you can adopt to support them.

I personally feel that Caroline Flack may have been self employed, so the support wasn’t needed to be provided at the same level as it would had she been an employee. But also did they pay for any support? We don’t know this yet. But we do hope so.
