If one of your employees has been in contact with someone with symptoms of Coronavirus, or if they need to self-isolate, they are entitled to be paid.
What pay they receive will firstly depend on your HR policy around your occupational sick pay scheme and what the Government currently provides.
Statutory Sick Pay (SSP) is currently available for anyone that is self-isolating, even if they have not been tested or have coronavirus. As long as they are self-isolating for at least 4 days, then SSP will start from the first day of isolation. Please visit the Government website to find out more.
If there is an occupational sick pay scheme, then employees may also be entitled to this too, please check with your employer.
The alternative is for an employee to undertake work from home if their job allows for it. They will receive pay as normal.
